OSS Vs Closed Software

“Regarding to the advantages and disadvantages of OSS, this model will continue to grow up and propagate in many sectors but the presence of the closed code software should still play an important role of solution deployment because many companies and organisation still require a high quality of support and easy of usage for most of users without enough knowledge in computer technology.”

I completely agree with the above statement. Asay (2007) concludes from a survey that 65% believe that professional vendor services give an edge to commercial software over the open source.

Hassin (2007) illustrates in the figure below that 16.6% are support issues. Kirsch [No date] states “Open source software and hardware continue to infiltrate the data center, but the lack of professional support remains a top business and IT concern”.
